Was I Good Enough to be Saved?

So what if Jesus was to return tonight?

Would you wonder if you did everything right! Did you hug your kids; kiss your wife; pet your dog and you are 100% sure of your salvation? OR, did you yell at the kids; argue with the wife; and kick the dog and now you are scared and unsure?

I love the hymn "Just as I am!"

“Just as I am, without one plea, But that thy blood was shed for me. And that Thou bidd'st me come to Thee. O Lamb of God, I come, I come!"

I believe the Lord is probably the only person that will always love you for who you are and not what you did. You are perfect in His eyes. You may have had great sins in the past and or you are still a "work in progress" but He loves you and will forgive you no matter what you have done. Just ask for his forgiveness as it states in 1 John 1:9

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Satan wants you to constantly doubt your salvation! He wants you to doubt and live in fear. Think about it! The Bible has 365 verses telling us NOT to fear. That’s one verse for every day of the year! You see, I really don't think it even matters if you kissed the dog; pet your kid; or kicked your wife (depending on your preference) because YOU begin to think, “did I do enough" to be saved and go to heaven?

You cannot to "earn" your way to heaven, it is available as a FREE gift and any sins are paid in full! You have been redeemed!

If you owed money at pawn shop and someone paid that debt. Would you continue to worry about the debt? Jesus paid that “pawn debt” for you because you are so “broke” that you could NEVER pay the debt yourself. However, if you rejected the offer someone made to pay your pawn shop debt—you would still owe the debt.

It has not been paid! I believe the reason Christians are kind, loving, giving, and full of empathy is because Christ dwells IN us and He has softened our hearts to be that. To be like Him. It is how we develop a closer walk with Him—become Christ-like.

However, I also believe there is NO amount of money one can give to the needy; any type of kindness and support that one can provide to a neighbor; or even any amount of scriptures we can read or memorize that can secure our salvation—indeed memorizing the Bible might make us be biblically smarter, but we CAN’T be saved doing that...

We can ONLY be saved by BELIEVING in Christ Jesus and ACCEPTING His GIFT of salvation.

“That IF you CONFESS with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and BELIEVE in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you WILL be saved.”—Romans 10:9-1

Jesus said unto him, “Thomas, because thou hast seen Me, thou hast believed. Blessed are they that have NOT SEEN and yet have BELIEVED.”-John 29:9

The Lord is OUR Shepard. We cannot be fully happy with WHO we are until we realize WHOSE we are.
